God continues to broaden the horizons of MTM as a global discipleship ministry. December 18-22, 2017 MTM conducted a pastoral leadership conference in the desert of Egypt northeast of Cairo. Egypt is the 6th largest Islamic country in the world after Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria. The work of the Lord to build His kingdom is staggering in Egypt due to the dominance of Islam. Multitudes of times we heard the comments that God’s people need to be delivered from the bondage of fear to boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in this largely unreached country.

This MTM Leadership Conference Was Conducted in The Shadows of An Islamic Mosque.

What a great privilege was ours to encourage these dear believers in the subjects of Biblical Leadership Priorities (Raymond Burkholder) as well as the Christian Home (Val Yoder). We were greatly encouraged by their sincere desire for the truth of God’s Word and to be empowered to Build God’s Kingdom in Egypt and beyond.

This particular MTM conference was hosted by a new contact and coordinator for MTM. Pastor Moody was able to assemble together attendees representing 7 different evangelical churches. Many of them were pastors or evangelists laboring in Egypt for the cause of the gospel unto their own Islamic people.

One young man came to me at the end of the conference and here is what he said. You are my teacher, please give me a homework assignment for one whole year. In all of my teaching & preaching experience…I never heard a request like this before with either MTM or at IGo. How should I respond?

I finally responded to him. Give yourself wholly and completely to the reading and study of the Word of God for “God Always Makes Much of Any Man Who Makes Much of The Word of God”. His response was, Yes, every day I will read three chapters in the Old Testament & One Chapter in the New Testament and in this way, I will easily read through my Bible in one year. This had been my earlier encouragement to him in a practical how to make much of the word of God. Blessed be God for young men who are willing to make the sacrifice and make much of the Word of God. I know God will make much of this young man for His Glory.

Testimonial:
Barbara and I were challenged by the culture and history of Egypt as we joined Raymond and Naomi Burkholder for MTM’s 101st leadership conference (since MTM was commenced in August 2008) held in a retreat center east of Cairo. Fifty-five pastors, wives, and assistants were brought together by Pastor Moody Girgis for a week of teaching in the desert area, not far from the Biblical land of Goshen. The attendees humbled us by their attentive listening and diligent attempts at taking notes from the sessions on Biblical Leadership and the Christian Home that were translated into Arabic. It is so encouraging to see the church of Egypt picking up God’s call to go into all their world, which is primarily Islamic, with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. These descendants of people, who interacted harmoniously and violently with Israel in the times of Joseph, Moses, Jeremiah, Jesus’ parents, Mark, the early church, and many others; provided a rich opportunity for fellowship and interaction reaching out to other refugees who are fleeing from persecution. We have much to learn from these zealous brothers and sisters.

Editor’s Note: The one-year homework assignment article was penned by Raymond Burkholder who serves as director of MTM based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The testimonial was written by Val Yoder who served as the guest teacher with MTM for the Egypt conference. A very special thank you to all who support this ministry in prayer and financially. Without you MTM would be unable to go and make disciples of all Nations.

….said a Nepalese leader in closing… “We Feel MTM Will Come Here Again.”

The assembly of saints in worship and fellowship is such a delightful experience. Barriers of language and culture largely fade into the background when gladsome hands warmly clasp those of fellow-believers, when their heart-felt expressions of greeting are exchanged, and their mingled voices ascend in exultant praise to our glorious Redeemer. Variations in worship style, apparel, and expressions of the genuine Christ-like life of the stranger and pilgrim traversing the narrow way, are each encountered with wonder and appreciation for what the Spirit of God is doing in climes and countries around the globe. This was the experience of the team who journeyed to the Far West of Nepal on December 11, 2017.

270 Pastors, Deacons, Youth leaders, and their wives making a difference in Nepal.

The conference was held from December 12-15 in a remote setting. A funeral and burial for one of the local pastors diminished the number of attendees the first two days of the gathering, but the final day saw approximately 270 pastors and church leaders assemble in worship and instruction. Brother Merle Flory and brother Curt Wagoner taught on the two themes of “Servant Leadership” and “Scenes from Acts,” and the team ministered through preaching, singing, and fellowship to the vibrant throng of worshippers. The reception by the believers in Nepal was overwhelming, and their faith and knowledge was apparently strengthened and increased by the ministry among them. The glory of the Lord shone round about, and the praise for any significant, Spirit-inspired outcome is His and His alone.

Many opportunities were encountered to not only worship together, but to share the experiences of life in individual prayer, personal interactions, and teaching moments. These experiences were mutually engaged by those coming from different cultural settings, and those who came to minister became those to whom ministry was given. Greatly enriching was the encounter as all became learners together, and all became teachers together.

We humbly extol the Lord of glory who, in His own sovereign ways and times, ministers to His chosen as He deems best. With great anticipation, we await the reunion of saints in eternal glory, where no partings will ever be needed and where the language of the redeemed will be spoken and understood by all. Oh . . . what must it be to be there!?!

The above article was written by Brother Curt Wagoner, who traveled here from West Alexandria, Ohio, with his wife Janie. Curt serves as a minister in their home congregation, and has served with MTM 3 times in Nepal. Thank you, Curt and Janie, for your continued support and blessing to MTM and God’s people everywhere.

L-R, Brother Sulus, Janelle Hoover, Merle & Judy Flory, Curt and Janie Wagner, Emily Wolf, Paster Ishwar and his family!!

The following reflection was written by Emily Wolf:

There is nothing more precious than sharing in the joy of our Lord Jesus Christ with believers of other cultures in their home setting. Being a guest in Western Nepal was a humbling and honoring experience, we can learn so much from the selfless graciousness poured out by our hosts. I was also honored to serve as a team member with MTM and serving our Nepali brothers and sisters by singing was a very special way to give back. I look forward to meeting them again around the throne where worship will never end.

Sister Emily is training with ABT, and is currently enrolled at God’s Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thank You, Emily, for your contribution and blessing to the MTM team.

The following reflection was written by Janelle Hoover:

Exuberant faces burst forth heartily in Nepalese: “He has made me glad, He has made me glad, I will rejoice for he has made me glad”. The believers lifted their hands as they circled around the interior of the newly renovated church building, dedicating it to God.
After much celebration, warm welcomes, complete with showering us in applause and adorning us with colorful scarves, our Nepali brothers and sisters listened attentively as the word of God was fed, eagerly feasting on every morsel.
Afterwards, sitting cross legged with the young people, we praised God together singing song after song. Their voices still ring in my ears and I can hear them sing: “I have decided to follow Jesus, No turning back no turning back”.

Sister Janelle traveled to Nepal from Dover, Ohio. She reconnected with her Nepalese friends and made new ones as well. Thank you, Janelle, for your contribution and blessing to the MTM team.

The tribes in the northeast part of India in the past, into the 1700’s, were known as “Head Hunters” they were vicious and lived to prove their strength by how many human scalps they could display on the walls within their living quarters. It was in the later 1700’s when the gospel was first heard in the Northeast part of India. Later in the mid 1800’s and as late as the 1970’s by the grace of God revival began to change hearts and lives, men and women were introduced to Jesus Christ and the salvation that He offers to all who will call on the Lord Jesus Christ to repent and believe.

Today there are many villages with churches that are filled with people who are spiritually hungry and thirsty. (What happened to the earlier revival)? Obviously due to a lack of Bible teaching and understanding the scriptures, today the Nagaland region is called “Christian” by (name only). Teaching and preaching the Word of God is stale because many pastors and deacons hold that title for (position only). There is a great need for godly leadership in the homes and community also idleness among men is a problem. The need to be occupied is not taught. There is a need for another great revival.

It was a special privilege to be invited with M.T.M. to come at the request of these dear folks and take part in teaching in the three-week Bible School in Tening Town, Nagaland, November 6-24, 2017. Church leaders and wives, teachers, and young folks came with a real desire to learn the scriptures. The classes offered were Priorities for Pastoral leadership by Raymond Burkholder, “Brokenness” by Merle Flory, and a Book study on James by myself (Eugene Weaver). Daily there was an average of 36 students in attendance. Many questions were asked, hearts were stirred, and commitments were made. Seeing many of the young men making commitments unto the Lord and stepping out of their comfort zone as emerging leaders was very encouraging.

Full Churches & Overwhelming Altar Responses Were the Norm Recently In Nagaland, India

MTM continually receives requests over and over to come into communities like this all over Asia to offer Bible teaching conferences and Bible schools. The Christians in these remote villages do not have the privileges we have in the West. They do not have the means to go to a Bible school, they do not have the understanding of the Word of God and long to know more. Their Spiritual hunger is real. One church leader said the MTM team was like a spiritual father to him. A pastor from another village church said it was like having one of Jesus’ disciples come here to preach to them. We heard words of appreciation many times from the students during the three weeks.

Some of the comments we heard from the students were, before Bible school I was not aware of my Bible! This was from one of the men who has been involved in the leadership team of Tening Town church. He is a married man, has a family, he was very helpful during the Bible school, willing to read scripture. Before Bible school he knew very little about the Bible.

Another comment we heard from a student that really didn’t want to come to Bible school. Janni was enrolled by someone else because she was a church attender. Janni requested her name be erased from the enrollment list. During Bible school opportunities were given to come to Jesus Christ as well as rededicate their lives to Christ. During the last class Janni finally gave her heart to the Lord Jesus.

Our eyes have been opened to how little of this world’s goods these dear remote village people live with. We had the privilege to visit in several of our student’s homes in the village where the Bible school was held. Their hospitality was very generous. While we sat on some handmade stools and visited many of them would offer a cup of hot tea that they made over an open fire. If they could, they would offer sticky rice to eat as you sipped on the tea. Not only are these people open and hungry for teaching of God’s Word, many are starving for Christian fellowship. One dear elderly lady we met in a very remote village told us (through a translator) that today her prayer to meet a white woman was finally answered.

The MTM Bible school was for adults who are involved in church leadership one way or another. Each day there were children who wanted attention after school. After the Bible school classes some children would gather around our living quarters. Elaine enjoyed spending some time with the children reciting Bible verses, coloring, or singing. We could not have done this without the prayers of God’s children near and far, we thank you for your support in making this possible.

MTM is a faith based ministry. The ability to disciple and spiritually equip native Christians is largely contingent upon your prayer support and financial contributions.

Editor’s Note; This article was written by Eugene & Elaine Weaver from Stevens, Pennsylvania. Eugene serves as senior pastor at Martindale Mennonite Church, Ephrata, PA. A very special thank you to both Eugene & Elaine for serving the Lord through MTM as well as giving of yourself and the gospel to the dear Liangmia people of Nagaland, India.

A VERY SPECIAL, HEART-FELT THANK YOU TO EACH OF YOU THAT PARTNER WITH THIS MINISTRY! MAY THE LORD REWARD YOU OPENLY FOR YOUR LABOR OF LOVE

On behalf of MTM, THANK YOU for your prayers and financial support in 2017. 2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

MTM is a faith-based ministry, and we are humbled to watch God’s hand move individuals and churches in providing our financial needs. May our worthy slain Lamb of God receive your gifts as a reward for His suffering. Trusting Him, we move into a fully booked 2018, purposing to do as Jesus commands in Mt 28:20…Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

By the exceeding abundant Grace of God and your generous gifts, MTM was able to facilitate 13 leadership conferences and 4, 3-week Bible Schools in 2017. MTM teaching teams taught and preached the Word of the Lord in India, Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Alaska, Myanmar, and Egypt. Lives have been touched and changed, Church leaders and ministries have been equipped, and souls were saved. BLESSED BE GOD ALONE !!!

Thank you and God bless you for partnering with us in Jesus’ great commission to make disciples of all nations. All of us are in this Truly Great Harvest together. Some harvest at home by sending financial resources for MTM Bible Schools & Conferences as well as MTM team travel expenses. Others harvest by coming and serving as guest teachers. Wherever you find yourself in this Truly Great Harvest, you are a very important link.

We left the smooth and busy streets of Taunggyi (pronounced Tong-jee) and began to bounce over the rough and winding roads toward the conference site. The road became narrower and rougher, and when I thought it couldn’t get narrower, it did. Finally we made a hard right turn and drove up a steep incline to the conference site. We were met with eager faces of natives that had been praying and anticipating this day for over a year. The conference was held at a children’s home and attended by natives from six different states from within Myanmar, some traveling over 200 miles.

The attendees with the MTM Team. L-R, Merle & Judy Flory, Grant Fullmer and Grant’s son Austin.

As the first day unfolded, the bumps and glitches began to fade; and the preaching, the power-points, and the translators all began to synchronize smoothly. As we left the first evening to head back to our lodging, I realized our hearts were already beginning to bond with these precious people. The following morning as we again left the smooth streets of Taunggyi, the same rough road seemed smoother and less narrow. My mind went to a verse that Isaiah spoke nearly 2,700 years ago and Luke records in chapter 3:5; Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth. Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for the Lord, I realized my heart was being prepared for the Lord to speak through the teaching, as we began to love these precious believers. The next verse says, And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. This sums up the conference quite well. The teaching reminded us all what God has done for us through Christ; and how that salvation should affect our lives, as we follow the commands of Christ. Personally, I felt challenged to simply follow Jesus’ commands and unapologetically declare His salvation to others.

As the final service concluded, we sang “God be with you till we meet again” and I saw tears running down cheeks. Truly our hearts had united with these believers and parting tugged at our emotions. Likely, we won’t see them again till we see them in heaven. Our prayer is that they, and us, will remain faithful and watching till that day, when the rough ways will eternally be made smooth!

The above article was written by Brother Grant Fullmer a Pastor from Farmersville, Ohio. Grant served God through MTM as a guest teacher in two different conferences here in Myanmar. Thank you, Grant, for faithfully lifting up the Word of God and sharing your passion, time, and giftings with these hungry souls.

As contemporary Bible scholars continue to disregard the cultural setting of Matthew’s gospel and interpret the “exception clause” of Matthew 5 and 19 to be “marital unfaithfulness” or “sexual immorality,” the effect reaches around the world. Marital faithfulness is no longer linked to a covenant made to God but rather it is dependent upon one’s perception of a spouse’s faithfulness or lack of it. Recently a well-known, respected leader from a large network of evangelical churches in Asia sent a certificate of approval for one of his junior pastors to remarry after two previous divorces. In discussion with Asian pastors in the MTM conferences we are informed that this apostasy is perpetrated by Western evangelists and teachers that hold large conferences in their countries. Numerous of these televangelists have not been faithful to their marriage vows themselves and are now spreading their adulterous ways worldwide.

One of the most requested subjects for the MTM conferences has been for teaching on marriage and the family. We have had pastors and leaders come to us numerous times in the course of a conference with comments about how they have never heard teaching like this before. As the stories and principles about family life emerge from the sessions, it is a joy to see the smiles and nodding of heads while the truth of God’s Word sinks into the hearts and spirits of the attendees. The double joy is to see them a year or so later living in deeper commitment to their wives and children as they teach and practice these same principles to the people in their realm of ministry.

TEAM PHOTO: L-R Clinton Weaver, Val & Barb Yoder, Raymond & Naomi Burkholder, and Stephen Burkholder.

Barbara and I thoroughly enjoyed joining Raymond and Naomi Burkholder on October 15-19 for a MTM conference with the Chepang people in Manahari, Nepal. The following week it was a joy to see some of the fruit of those conferences as pastors and leaders brought their wives and children to an EQUIP orphanage leader’s conference in Tansen, Nepal. Though the EQUIP conference was not sponsored by MTM, many of these men have previously attended a MTM conference and are now serving their families and the orphans in their homes by the things they have heard and been taught in previous conferences. A sixteen-year-old son of a Nepalese pastor, who recently spent nine days in prison for his faith, enthusiastically related his excitement about following in his father’s footsteps to get Bible training and then to pastor a church. This is the joy of seeing the two-pronged approach to church growth happening in Asia. The teaching of MTM conferences is encouraging the churches of Asia to grow through the training of sons and daughters in godliness and character as well as to foster evangelism by taking the Gospel to their Buddhist and Hindu neighbors. May the Lord continue to use the Macedonian Teaching Ministry to develop a solid Biblical basis for godly homes that exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in Asia until our Lord returns.

Editor’s Note; The above article was written by Val Yoder who served as guest teacher with MTM. Val & Barb Yoder are presently serving as pastor at Kitchi Pines church in Black Duck, Minnesota. Val served as field administrator of IGo ministries afore time. May the Lord reward you openly for your labor of love among the Chepang people of Nepal.

As we gathered into the small, humid room with the 10 delegates sent from the Monpa people group in NE India, their faces glowed with eager anticipation for the Word of God.

The tantric, Tibetan Buddhist Monpas, who just a few years ago, “were not a people” (in a spiritual sense), have now had a few of their own become the “people of God”. They had not obtained mercy… but now a few HAVE obtained mercy! Hallelujah! I thank God for his mercy and salvation, not only to you and I, but also to the Monpas!

These dear people had traveled south for over 14 hours to reach our conference location in Nagaland, India. Sadly, about 20 of their number were turned back at their state line in leu of a recent, bloody clash between a Monpa unbeliever, and a tribesman from the neighboring state. Trials like these are a reality in their daily life.

Our time with the Monpa people was so precious! These dear Brothers and Sisters truly desire to follow after the Lord and expand His Kingdom. They said the first believer was converted in 1996, but the church hardly grew until more recently. By 2015 there were only 7 believing families. Today, the church has doubled in size – 14 families!

The teaching included the following subjects:

Lordship of Christ and the building of His Church

The Beatitudes – including “where is your treasure?”

“Follow Me”

At the very end of the conference, we were so overjoyed to wash the trail-worn feet of the Monpa Brothers and share encouraging words of blessing, love, and affirmation to them. We all wept together in the common realization of the love of God and the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The greatest challenge to me during this conference was the example of simple Faith and Obedience in the Monpa believers. This was stretching to my North American Christian worldview. Their stories sound just like they came right out of the book of Acts! They believe God in full. Miraculous, physical healing through prayer and fasting is not uncommon. When God speaks to them in any way, they obey!
“Oh Lord Jesus, please help me to step out in fuller obedience and faith in you for the expansion of your Kingdom, and the Glory of your Name!”

L-R Gaylord Barkman, G’King, Merle Flory and Jordan Flory. Along with the delegates from the Monpa people group.

       A Peculiar People

Anticipation was high as we traveled from Thailand to India, looking forward to being among people I hadn’t before. There were many different people groups of northern India that gathered at our host, Pastor GKing’s home, and it was a rich blessing to meet more of God’s family for the 1st time! My heart was touched especially as we got to know the people of the Monpa tribe, where the gospel has reached their people only in the last 10 or 12 years. Their life experiences show how gracious and loving God is by pursuing these dear people who had never even heard of Jesus until the mid 1990’s!

I asked them who Jesus is to those around them in their community. They said the people say he is a foreign god, and ask the new believers to go away and leave their village. I then asked this group of Monpas who they believe Jesus is, and several replied immediately with light and joy in their faces, “Jum Bala” (Living God)!

Pickhro and her son Reuben came without their husband and father who had to stay back. Pickhro’s husband was formerly a Lama (Buddhist high priest). Part of his job was to perform the pagan burial ceremonies. He would do this several ways; one method, the river burial, was by chopping the body of the deceased into 108 pieces, and then depositing these into the river. Another was the sky burial, where the body was cut into small pieces and mixed with flour, then taken to a high place where the birds would come and eat the pieces. After receiving Jesus, he left these practices and found a different job.

Pastor Namjeh tells of a fellow believer whose house was burned recently by hostile villagers. They came one day and poured kerosene around the outside of the house and set it on fire. Most of the family were able to escape, but his 10-year-old son was trapped and burned to death. This man had wanted to come to the conference but was unable to because of sickness.

These people have left a deep impact on my heart and mind. I am so blessed to have met them, and to realize that I am also a part of their people group – “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, to show forth the praises of Him who has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light”!

Please pray for these dear people that they can continue to be a shining light amid the raging darkness which they have been called out of.

G.B.

They were 2 of the 20 faithful attendees at Golden Bible School (GBS). James and Silas daily, sat in the front, eagerly listening and taking notes of the things, they were hearing. Both men are serving as youth Pastors in their respective churches, just outside Myitkyina, Myanmar.

What is my responsibility to young men like James and Silas? Why did God allow the scale of bible training, of biblical based resources, and Christian values to be so favorably tipped in my favor? How will young men like James and Silas know what a godly lifestyle, marriage and family looks like, unless someone comes and teaches them?

James and Silas, along with 17 other students knelt before the Lord on the last day.

Tears rolling down many faces, as they committed to surrendering all to Jesus, and to stay true to Him no matter the cost. Committing to pursuing godly marriages and families. Seeking prayers of God’s blessing upon their lives from the MTM teachers. I realized again, that the harvest is truly great. May God bless and enhance the ministry of James and Silas. May God continue to bless the MTM team so that, young men like James and Silas will hear truth, and commit to teaching and preaching among their own people.

It was a great privilege to be part of the MTM teaching team for 3 weeks of Bible teaching at GBS. I was blessed to be part of fulfilling Jesus’ command in Matt. 19:20a to, “teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” I bless the MTM ministry teams in Jesus name. They are really meeting a felt need, within the Asian churches.

Come along and join us on a 3-week ministry trip to Myitkyina, Myanmar, in northern Myanmar close to the China border. The Irrawaddy River and mountains to the east. A variety of beautiful lush trees and birds singing. A typical morning starts with the early morning Muslim prayer call that sounds throughout the city, a very dedicated people. And Buddhist monks going about for their collection as the is Sun coming up, horns honking, busy streets from early morning till late at night. Markets are set up along the street wherever you go. Clothing, shoes, flowers, fruit, blankets, baskets and much more. Thank the Lord for the gift of a smile! This is one gift we can freely give wherever we go even thou we cannot communicate, in return we received many precious smiles!

The first MTM-GOLDEN BIBLE SCHOOL was commenced in Myitkyina in a small upstairs church. Every morning we were greeted with approximately 20 students, varying in ages from 22 – 70 years old, and the native coordinator and interpreter, Isaac. The other interpreters name was Peace. The moments were precious to shake their hands and give the Burmese greeting ‘Minga-la-bah’. The classes were started with some beautiful singing and a devotional by the coordinator or by one of the students. The classes were “Godly Home and Marriage” by Raymond Burkholder, “Basic Bible Studies” by Milton Loewen, and “The Book of St. Mark by Lanus Dueck. The group was very attentive with open eyes, ears and a heart for the teaching of the Word of God! They were always ready to respond and take part in the discussion time. One precious young widow lady came 14 hours by train! And stayed for the 3 weeks. She testified how she grew up in a Buddhist home and that the Heavenly Father is her husband. She had such a gracious sweet spirit. A pastor would ride his motorbike for 22 miles every day to attend, rain or shine, many rough roads. Some days he brought his wife or some of his children. Amazing how quickly we learned to love these dear people that we never met before and don’t know if we will ever meet again. But we know we will meet them some day in glory!

At the end of a day of teaching, soaked with sweat, and resorting back to our hotel room overlooking the city, we feel so blessed! The thought would come to me again and again, “Lord, it could have been me”, sitting here in the darkness of the Buddhists or the Muslims. We see temples everywhere where they worship in deception false gods. They are a people lost in darkness on their way to a pit of deeper darkness, forever! UNLESS, someone comes and shows them and teaches them about the TRUE GOD and His Son the LORD JESUS CHRIST!

As opportunity was given we would visit other churches and share a short message with them, we would hear it over and over again, “We have no teaching on the Godly Family or True Biblical studies of the Bible”. Will you please come again? So, who will be willing to go? A powerful influence can be left by being willing to go, walk among them, shake their hands, show friendly faces and teach them the Real True Gospel, and turn their hearts to Jesus. Watch them fall on their knees in commitment to Jesus. Then lay hands on them, pray for them, and sent them out to GO and bring the gospel to their people. To God be the Glory!

We were greatly blessed to host the MTM conference at the Mat-Su Borough Gym in Palmer, Alaska. Our joy was multiplied as we fellowshipped together with dear saints whom we love but are separated from by many miles. In addition to Merle and Judy, our visitors included Jeridan and Twyla Fingerle and family, Kent and Joanna Rumble with their three oldest children, and Andrew Tye.

Friday night was an overview of the MTM ministry. We learned the how, where, and who of this ministry, seeing the blessings of reaching people in the 10-40 window and the effectiveness of natives sharing their faith in Jesus with their own people. We were inspired to see the sacrifice and dedication of people who have far less material possessions than us, yet are rich beyond measure. On Saturday evening we were reminded of the utmost importance of our position in Christ, and from our relationship with God we have an overflowing cup to share with others. To bear fruit, we must abide in the vine.

MTM Conference Group At Palmer, Alaska

The Sunday morning session focused on the need to be united with our Christian family—this life is not just “me and Jesus.” We need each other, and we need accountability to stay focused on our common goal. Sunday afternoon we learned that to be separated from the world we need to be separated unto Christ. When our relationships with God, each other, and the world are as they should be, we can have a fruitful ministry. Brother Merle drew the children into the lessons by calling for their participation and using visual object lessons. What a joy to see our children’s passion kindled for Christ and His kingdom.

We are grateful for the sacrifice our brothers and sisters made to bless us. Our prayer is for fruitful ministry wherever God calls us.

Editor’s Note; The above article was written by Brother David Long, who lives with his family in Alaska, serving in the Church as a Deacon. Thank you, Brother David, for the way all you brothers and sisters pulled together to make this conference a blessing.
