Pastoral Leadership Conferences
Stueng Saen, Kampong Thom 11/14-11/15
Serei Sophorn, Banteay Meanchey 11/17-11/18
Anabaptist church plant, Siem Riep 11/20

It has been a tremendous blessing to be part of the seeding team in Cambodia. Our trip was through the central part of Cambodia. A two day conference in Stueng Saen, then traveling NW to Sisophon closer to the border of Thailand. On the Sundays before and after we were able to worship with followers of ??? (Jesu Crees) in a couple of local congregations.
Brother Kent Fulmer – Teaching the World of God

It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm of our Christian brothers and sisters in Cambodia. They worship God with eagerness and vibrancy. At their suggestions we taught on the Pastoral calling, Caring for the Body of Christ, Forgiveness, and the Marriage/Family relationship. They listened well, took notes and engaged in the teaching. They asked good questions and we could see they were grasping the teaching as they asked for further clarification on some of the points. Our prayer is that God will continue His work in our lives and the lives of our brothers and sisters in Cambodia for the Glory of God! The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The above article war written by brother Kent Fulmer of the Bear Creek congregation in Ohio. We praise God for His grace extended to us to GO…and TEACH the Word of God. We thank God for leading brother Kent to join Nicole and Trevin and I in our first visit to Cambodia and we thank the Bear Creek congregation for their support for these MTM conferences. We were so blessed to be among our Khmer brothers and sisters as well as spending sweet time fellowship at the anabaptist mission near Siem Riep and the DNI outpost in Phnom Pehn. Truly our God opened every door we were willing to walk through. To God be the glory!

Our native coordinator wrote the following encouragement…“We would like to show our gratitude for MTM and our wonderful guest speakers for your coming with your own resources, time and energy to make the pastoral leadership conference happened.
Sangit Karuan and his wife Laurel served as the MTM coordinators for this remote village conference. I first met Sangit Karuan back in 2015 at Delhi, India. Then in 2016, I was instrumental in getting him enrolled at our 2016 MTM Odisha Bible School in Odisha, in Bhubaneswar, India. It was at this Bible school that I became somewhat involved in the premarital counseling in the challenges of cross-cultural marriages with brother Sangit.

Laurel (formerly Keller) is from Lebanon County, PA and I also had connections to her home church & ministry. Laurel & Sangit met many years ago when both of them were serving as missionaries in Ranchi, India at an children’s orphanage. Therefore, their love story started many years ago. And they were finally married March 11, 2017. Naomi & I have nurtured our relationship with them all these many years.

Sangit & Laurel and his family now presently Live in his home village at Jangannathpur, Odisa State of India. This is where Sangit grew up and his whole family lives there in Jangannathpur village. Actually, Naomi & I stayed right in their home with them during the conference. Needless to say, Village life in India can be very challenging but we simply loved staying with Sangit & Laurel. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SANGIT & LAUREL FOR YOUR MUCH APPRECIATED VILLAGE HOSPITALITY.

Dear MTM prayer partners, We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I am Pastor Anand Sinha and I am ministering among the Muslims in Nepal. There are about 7% Muslims in Nepal and we are focusing on reaching out to the children of Ishmael (Muslims) who are lost without our Savior Jesus Christ. November 13-15, 2022, we were in Ratanpur village for a MTM conference and we had guest teacher Pastor Raymond Burkholder from the USA. We have known Pastor Raymond since 2010 and our dear God gave us the wonderful privilege to work together to build the kingdom of God in Nepal through teaching conferences and 3 weeks Bible School. It is a blessing to team up with him after a long interval.

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” Jn. 6:35

Difficult journey to reach Ratanpur village:

The road towards the Ratanpur village was badly damaged due to monsoon rain and flooding. The road was dusty with lots of potholes. Some part of the road was under maintenance and we had to drive through a diversion.

In one place the diversion road was so narrow that it seemed impossible to pass through it. If we make a slight mistake, our vehicle would fall 300 meters down the hill. Seeing the risk, we wanted to return back. But there was no space to turn back the vehicle. We were stuck in the middle of our journey. After much consideration and praying to God, we made the decision to cross this dangerous narrow road to reach the destination. With the help of God, we were able to cross this dangerous narrow road. The road towards Ratanpur village was bumpy as there were lots of pot-holes. We were a little worried that Pastor Raymond and his wife Naomi might complain about the rough ride. But we were very surprised that they enjoyed the journey and didn’t complain about anything.

Blessed “The Cry of Ishmael conference
Click The Above Link to View Many Photos with Captions

On 13th to 15th of November, the cry of Ishmael conference was held in Ratanpur village. There were many pastors, leaders, evangelists and youths attendees from different village areas. Some of them are living among the Muslim communities of terai regions. There were some seekers of the truth as well who had come to attend the meeting with their Christian friends. Our guest speaker Ps. Raymond Burkholder, taught the attendees from the story of Abraham and his son Ishamael from the book of Genesis. When Hagar and her son Ishmael were cast out and were in the desert, they didn’t have food and water to survive. They were about to die from hunger and thirst.

When the little boy Ishameal who was going to die cried unto the Lord, he heard his cry and saved him and his mother by providing them water. In the same way, the children of Ishmael (Muslims) are dying without the living water and living bread, Lord Jesus Christ (Jn. 6:35). Ps. Raymond said : Until this day, the children of Ishmael (Muslims) who are starving spiritually cry out five times a day from the mosques. Our loving God has heard their cry and has compassion towards them. He wants them to be saved through his son Jesus Christ. Ps. Raymond encouraged the attendees to reach out to their Muslim neighbors and witness them the living water and bread of life, our savior Jesus Christ. The attendees were much encouraged by this teaching conference and when he asked if they are willing to witness Christ to their Muslim community, many of them raised hands and came forward. He prayed for them that God will use them to be an effective instrument as they reach out to their Muslim neighbors and friends.

Four souls accepted Christ:

Some of the attendees had brought their non-chirstian friends to this conference so that they would be able to know the truth and accept Christ in their hearts. These non-Christian attendees were very much blessed through this conference as they were able to know the truth. During the conference, when Pator Raymond asked if there is anyone who is not saved and wants to accept Christ in their lives, four souls lifted up their hands and came forward. Two of them were children of Ishmael (Muslims) and other two hindus. He prayed for them for God’s blessing for their life in Lord Jesus Christ. He also prayed for their safety and protection from all evil.

Wonderful testimony of an attendee Prakash Raj:

One of the attendees was Prakash Raj. He was a member of the Hindu extremist group called Shiv Sena (army of Shiv). He was indoctrinated by this Hindu extremist group to hate Christians. This Hindu extremist group’s main mission is to ban the conversion of Hindus to Christianity and also expel Christians out of Nepal. A few years ago, one of his classmates Rabindra who was also a member of the same extremist group became Christian through our village outreach ministry.

This Christian youth Rabindra started to share the gospel of Christ to his friend. At first Prakash Raj was very surprised to see his friend becoming Christian and he was very annoyed with him for leaving the Hindu religion and the extremist group. He tried to distance himself from Rabindra but Rabindra continually prayed for his friend and approached him to share the gospel. A few weeks ago, Rabindra went to Prakash Raj’s room & gave him Christian literature so that he could find the truth of the gospel. Prakahs Raj was very angry to see his Christian friend in his house. Prakash Raj threw the literature on the ground and asked Rabindra to leave his house immediately. Later on he took the literature and started reading it to find the fault in it. As he read it, he found nothing wrong in it. Instead he found the literature interesting which teaches about one true God who loves the world and sent his son Jesus not to condemn the world but for the salvation of mankind from their sins.

Then, he started to show interest in knowing the gospel of Christ. His friend Rabindra brought him to this conference. After knowing the truth, he opened his heart for Christ. We prayed for him and for his new life in Christ. We all rejoiced and thanked God for saving the life of this Hindu extremist youth and also other three souls who attended the blessed conference and accepted Christ in their lives.

The attendees were very blessed by the teaching conference and they made commitments to share the gospel to the children of Ishmael (Muslims). At the end of the conference, we provided them literature so that it will help them to share the gospel to lost souls. Finally, we want to thank God for this blessed MTM conference in Ratanpur village. We hope that we will be able to join hands in the future MTM’s teaching conference in different parts of Nepal to encourage Nepali churches in reaching out to the children of Ishmael (Muslims) in Nepal.

God bless you all !

I was honored to be able to participate in a MTM Leadership Seminar in Sikkim, India. Sikkim, a Northeast state of India, is located in the Himalayan Mountains between Nepal and Bhutan. It took almost 24 hours of traveling from Thailand to reach Gangtok the town where the conference was hosted. Because Sikkim is a restricted state of India, we had to get a special registered license to enter. The theme of the conference was “Leadership Priorities”. It was well attended by 78 different church leaders. The delegates were church pastors, youth leaders, and Sunday school teachers, who came from remote areas of Sikkim. Some of the delegates took almost as much time traveling as we did, with one group coming by bus the whole way from eastern Nepal. Most of the pastors attending were rural pastors who never had an opportunity to go to Bible school or to receive any other bible teaching.

Most of the pastors attending were rural pastors who never had an opportunity to go to Bible school or to receive any other bible teaching. I was delighted to discover that I could understand the native spoken language as the attendees spoke Nepali. Raymond Burkholder spoke on “Key Leadership Priorities”, while I (Stephen Burkholder) spoke on the “Priorities of the Early Church Leaders” taken from the book of Acts. I was encouraged to see a lot of young leaders attending. You could see the hunger for the Word of God as the attendees were very attentive and many of them took notes. After the conference we received many personal testimonies how the Lord used this conference to bless and challenge the attendees. One young lady a recent convert to Christianity told us how she was challenged by the example of the early church leaders and felt God calling her to give her whole life to be a martyr/witness for Jesus Christ. God is building his church in Sikkim, and I am honored to have been part of the work.

Editor’s Note; The above article was written by Stephen Burkholder. who served as an MTM teacher at this Gangtok conference. Thank you Stephen for traveling all the way from America to serve the Lord with MTM. Stephen is in transition to become the future assigned MTM director.

Pastor, it was wonderful time of fellowship last week. Thanks for your wonderful teaching and it has been encouraging and fruitful to every participants. Here are some testimonies.

This is Arthur from Gangtok, Indeed it was such a blessed time I had with the MTM leaders and their teachings, I am very grateful to your effort to bring such as this ministry among us to equip us, so the church flourish under scriptural understanding, Looking forward to know you more as well in the future.

One Lady (Lydia Rai)who was from South Sikkim shared with me that she has come in the conference for two days but as the days progressed she was touched and attended for fully four days. She was blessed and wanted to encourage others to participate on coming conference.

As You (Raymond) were sharing on subject of Holy Spirit three/four ladies were physically crying and repented. They were touched and took initiated to teach in their churches. . From all the participants they have requested me to conduct next year also. They have never come across such kind of teaching and they are very much grateful to you all.

It has been a blessing to participate in the Godly Marriage and Family Life Conference at Pokhara, Nepal. It was my first time to be in this part of Nepal. Though the rainy season had begun, and the weather was quite warm and humid, the spiritual blessings far outweighed all the discomforts.

The Conference was a four-day event. Pastor Man (not pronounced man like we normally do in English but more like “mawn”) was the coordinator. The conference was held at Pastor Man’s church house at Pokhara, Nepal. Brother Raymond spoke on Godly Marriage and Family Life, and I spoke from I Thessalonians with an emphasis on Church Planting. Both of us had two teaching sessions per day.

The Conference was attended by approximately 80 people from all over the different regions of Nepal. Many of them traveled for several days in a public bus. Since it was a Marriage and Family Life Conference many ladies attended. I admire the ability of the Nepalis to sit on the floor, diligently listening and ofttimes taking notes. It was clearly evident there was spiritual hunger in their hearts. They were an attentive and responsive audience even though the heat and humidity called for much sweat.

Nepali Couples Seeking Biblical Truth

But more than sweat was wiped. There were tears, giving evidence that hearts were touched. Brother Raymond had a moving session illustrating how the Godly husband should relate to his wife. This was made real by washing Naomi’s feet and accompanied by words of confession and affection. He then gave opportunity for the brothers to do the same to their wives and there were a considerable number that volunteered and also did so.

However, the high point of the Conference was at the close of it. After a time of prayers, appreciations expressed, Pastor Man led his people into a prayer time of repentance that, though we could not understand the language, felt like a moving of the Spirit. Many prayers ascended and there was an atmosphere of brokenness. I heard one lady weep like a child. Later when opportunity was given, she confessed she had not been supporting her husband’s ministry and that she wants to change. An older lady went up front and spoke a bit and then her husband came up and they sang a song. Again, we could not understand a word, but it was a beautiful time.

After a few days of Conference, I noted that my voice was being affected and by the last day I had to hobble through my sessions because of it. But I know of no better way to lose one’s normal voice than by being in God’s service. To share the Word of God with an audience who do not have the resources we are used to in the English-speaking world is a wonderful privilege. And when that audience is hungry for the Word….. Thank you Lord, for carrying me to Nepal for this occasion.

Editors Note; Brother Earl, Thank you so much for serving the Lord with MTM in Nepal. May the Lord reward you openly for your labor of love. Earl and Edna Peachey reside at Mattawana Pa. when they are home. They have five children and twenty-one grandchildren. Earl was ordained over 40 years and a few years ago the Valley View Amish Mennonite Church graciously granted him a release from administrative duties which enables him to freely teach and preach in other places of God’s Kingdom.

A VERY SPECAL THANK YOU TO ALL WHO FAITHFULLY PRAY & FINANCIALL SUPPORT MTM

Raymond Burkholder invited Timothy Martin to assist him in Nepal for the Nepal Asia Bible School. We traveled together from PA to Doha, Qatar, There we met Rich and Nicole Moore from Oregon, and continued traveling to Nepal. The day before we flew in, there was a strike in Nepalgunj, rioting on the streets, and congestion in the airport. The Nepali pastors were unsure if they would be able to travel safely and be at the Bible School on time. Some of the pastors walked two hours from remote villages to roads that are suitable for buses, then have a seven-hour bus ride to the Bible School. The pastors that traveled these distances would sleep at the church for the night. Others would walk or bike to the conference every day. God was faithful; all the students and teachers that had registered for the conference were able to attend. We felt God’s continued protection and blessing the duration of the Bible School.

MTM provides a junior Bible college level education for pastors who cannot afford attending college for study. The teaching is done through a translator; taught in their native language. The three topics that were taught at the Bible School were “The Kingdom of God” by Raymond Burkholder, “The Life of Christ” by Richard Moore, and “The Book of Acts” by Stephen Burkholder. Each class was taught for 90 minutes, through a native brother translator, every day Sunday thru Friday, for two weeks. I was responsible to be a support to the teachers with daily projector setup, sharing devotionals before class and interacting with the pastors. Our prayer is that these two weeks of immersing in God’s word will empower the pastors to go back to their villages and share with their churches, to bring spiritual growth and strength in the Kingdom of God. These pastors do not have much material possessions but give all they have to live for the Lord and minister the Gospel to those around them in their villages.

The Full Nepali Student Group At The First Nepal Asia Bible School

One evening we were in the home of Pastor Vivek (a Nepali pastor and translator for the Nepal Asia Bible School), for the evening dinner, and he explained how he oversees 43 different churches in western Nepal. When their church chooses to begin a new church, they send an evangelist into another gospel unreached village and he preaches the gospel in that village and as new believers come to Jesus Christ a new Bible based church is planted in that village. As others in that village see how God makes a difference in the Christian’s lives, they are also drawn to Jesus Christ and the new church. Then after some time that church will send another evangelist out into another unreached village to start a new church. Pastor Vivek has a passion to have 150 new churches started by 2025. God is building His church in Nepal, and I am grateful to Him for allowing me the privilege to work in Nepal and witness the passion for souls of these dear brethren. May God receive all the honor and glory.

Editors Note; The above article was written by, Timothy Martin who is 20 years old, from Adamstown, PA. Timothy lives at home and works with his family at Brecknock Orchard. Timothy had plans to enroll at IGo, January through April 2022, but God changed those plans when he tested positive for COVID. It was disappointing when God closed the door to attend IGo, but when God closes one door, He is about to open another door. That open door was with MTM to Nepal. It has been a blessing to experience God and His perfect plan in my life and to be a part of God’s work in Nepal. Thank you brother Timothy, it was a great joy and blessing having you part of the MTM team.
