2Ti 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Youth Pursuing God’s Heart!
“Thank you for coming,” “Thank you for teaching us,” “Thank you for showing us, we have never heard these kinds of teachings before, and we did not know.”
Bhubaneswar is the capital city of Odisha, India. Referred to as the number one smart city of India because of being purposefully planned, it has also become an educational hub because of its many colleges and universities. Although the city is quite modern, it has great spiritual need. There are more than 700 temples in the city and it has become known as “Temple City”. Odisha Province is the area of India known to many of us as the area of India where Christians face the greatest opposition; even still today there are 79 unreached people groups in that region alone. God is calling native youth [men and woman] to fill the great need of Godly men and women that passionately “Pursue the Heart of God” to carry the “Great Commission” lost and dying in this region.
Sitting together with 100-125 youth (ages 15 -30) for 2 1/2 days observing them as they absorbed the teachings from the life of David, and the 8 pillars that make up the Christian’s salvation was a blessing to be a part of. One young man told me he knew the stories of David but never saw the principles that guided his (David’s) life. Many of the youth expressed a special thank you for the simplicity in which the topics were presented, “Yes, we could understand” was often the response when asked if they understood. These youth long to follow the biblical examples but have never had the opportunity to be part of this type of teaching/training.
Watching them listen and absorb the teachings, it was obvious it brought a deep sense of longing to their hearts. This was evident as they knelt at the alter with tears streaming down their cheeks, praying that God would forgive them of their sin and fill them with His Holy Spirit empowering them for a work that he is calling them to.
The response at the alter to a call of full surrender to God!
Nearly half of the youth responded to a challenge to be willing to be a gospel messenger for the Lord to reach the 79 unreached people groups in Odisha. Several of the boys are already part of a ministering pastor team, so this teaching was very helpful and encouraging for them.
Please pray for these youth as they return to their homes and communities all over Odisha [some as far as an 11-hour bus ride] that they will remain energized for the Lord’s great work. Consider also becoming a financial partner with MTM in this work that empowers natives Christians for the great harvest.
Editor’s Note; Tom & Melissa Mullet and family are from Sugarcreek, Ohio (unfortunately Tom served in India without his wife and children). Tom serves as Associate pastor at Sharon Mennonite Church also in Sugarcreek. A very special thank you and blessing to Tom & his wife and family for the sacrifice you all made in Tom serving the Lord through MTM in India. I know the youth at the Odisha Youth Advance were greatly challenged in knowing the Lord in a crystal-clear salvation. Blessed be God!
