What words can I use to describe the great opportunity to teach God’s Word in a land where you have the highest concentration of unreached people groups in the whole world? In a state where only 3% of the population are Christians? In an area where the Believers are hungry for the Word – for the Truth that is only found in Jesus? In a land where the Believers are beaten & driven from their homes? Awesome, humbling, and challenging are the 3 words that come to my mind.
Awesome because the opportunity truly was awesome. The awesome privilege of being able to teach the Truth of God’s Word in a place where His Word is so little known. Awesome because of the reception that His Truth was given.
Humbling because of the great respect with which they treated us. Humbling because of their sacrificial acts of love in serving us. Humbling because it reminds me how little of this respect & sacrificial love I show to the leaders in my own church.
Challenging because of the testiomonies of the Believers who were at this conference. Some had been beaten and left for dead. Others have been rejected by their families. All have sacrificed for Christ. Challenging, because of the respect that was given to the Word of God. Challenging, because of the passionate worship that was evident in their singing and prayer times. Challenging, because of the great burden that they have for their own un-reached people groups. Challenging, because they are doing so much with so little while I am doing so little with so much. Challenging, because I know that I will never be the same again.
Editors Note; Brother Joel Yoder from VA served as a guest teacher at our recent MTM Conference in Cuttack, India. May the Lord reward you openly for your sacrifice and labor of love unto our dear Indian brethren.
